Early Life
Mercy Aigbe was born on January 1, 1978, in Edo State, Nigeria, to Pa Aigbe and Mrs. Abisola Grace Owodunni. She hails from Benin City, the capital of Edo State, and is the second of five children in her family.
She began her education at St. Francis Primary School and continued at Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School in Ikeja, Lagos State. She went on to study Financial Studies at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where she earned her Ordinary National Diploma (OND). In 2001, she graduated from the University of Lagos with a degree in Theater Arts.
Career
Mercy Aigbe launched her acting career through television soap operas, most notably appearing in the popular drama series Papa Ajasco. Subsequently, she officially entered the Nollywood industry in 2006 and gained widespread attention after her lead role in the movie Ara, produced by Remi Olupo in Ibadan.
In addition to her acting career, Mercy took a significant step toward nurturing new talent when she founded the Mercy Aigbe Gentry School of Drama in 2016, aimed at training aspiring actors and actresses.
Over the years, she has established herself as a prominent brand ambassador. For instance, in 2014, she became the face of Elephant Gold Rice. The following year, she signed a one-year endorsement deal with Prestige Cosmetics.
Moreover, she partnered with Edalaf Brothers Limited, a tech solutions company, in 2016. That same year, she also became a brand ambassador for Shape You, a fitness brand known for its slimming coffee. Continuing her streak, in 2017, BK Hair named her as its official brand ambassador.
Ultimately, in 2018, Mercy Aigbe expanded her endorsement portfolio by becoming the face of Naija Taxi Services, a transportation company. Additionally, she joined actresses Bose Alao and Biodun Okeowo in signing a joint endorsement deal with the cosmetics brand Mary Make.
