Early Life

Nkiru Sylvanus was born in Osisioma, Aba, located in Abia State. She began her education at Ohabiam Primary and Secondary School, where she earned her First School Leaving Certificate and the West African Senior School Certificate. She later attended Enugu State University of Science and Technology, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication.

Career

Nkiru Sylvanus launched her acting career in 2001 at the age of 16. In 2002, she gained national attention with her breakout role in the film A Cry for Help, where she portrayed the character Blessing a performance that earned her the nickname “Ble-Ble.”

Interestingly, her journey into acting began by chance. A film crew approached her family to use their home as a palace setting, and during the process, she got the opportunity to appear in the film. That moment marked the start of a prolific acting career that has seen her appear in hundreds of Nollywood productions.

Media outlets like The Punch have described her as a Nollywood veteran. The Guardian also recognized her twice—in 2017 and 2018 in its annual list of Celebrities Who Made Headlines.

In 2011, she also entered public service when the former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, appointed her as his Special Assistant on Lagos State Affairs. She later rose to the position of Special Adviser on Public Affairs.

On January 12, 2023, Nkiru married her longtime partner, Riches Sammy, in a traditional wedding ceremony held in her hometown of Osisioma, Abia State. Her husband, a Japan-based actor and entrepreneur, has built a successful career in Japan’s nightlife and hospitality industries. Their union marked a joyous and celebrated moment in her personal life.
