Early Life

Ibironke Ojo-Anthony, professionally known as Ronke Oshodi-Oke, was born on 17 July 1974 in Oworoshoki, Kosofe, Lagos State, Nigeria, into a family of six, though she hails from Ondo State. She attended Yemus Nursery and Primary School in Agege and Muslim College in Oworoshoki for her early education, before training as an actress at the Star Parade Caucus for about eighteen months.

Career

Ronke Oshodi-Oke began her acting career with the drama troupe Star Parade under the mentorship of veteran actor Fadeyi Oloro, before joining a group at the National Theatre in Iganmu. She became a household name in 2000 after starring as the lead in ‘Oshodi-Oke,’ the film that gave her the stage name still used today. She has gone on to build a filmography of more than 50 films across Yoruba comedies, dramas and English-language productions, including ‘The Ghost and the Tout Too,’ ‘Brotherhood,’ ‘Anรญkรบlรกpรณ,’ ‘Seven Doors,’ ‘Ajosepo,’ ‘American Japa’ and ‘Owambe Thieves.’

Her performance in ‘Anรญkรบlรกpรณ’ as “Olori Agba” earned her special recognition from Netflix, highlighting her continued impact on the industry more than two decades into her career. In May 2026, in an interview with Saturday Beats, she credited her longevity in Nollywood to discipline, consistency and professionalism, pushing back on the perception that younger actors are commonly distracted, and singling out actor Timini Egbuson as an example of a serious, dedicated young performer.

Personal Life

Ronke Oshodi-Oke married Anthony Gbolahan in 2009. Beyond acting, she has also explored music and been open about her personal health journey, including her transformative weight loss.

With more than two decades of consistent output across Yoruba and English Nollywood, Ronke Oshodi-Oke remains one of the industry’s most respected and enduring veteran actresses.
