Early Life

Sharon Ooja hails from the Idoma tribe in Benue State and was born in Kaduna State. She grew up with three sisters. She completed her primary education at Kings and Queens School in Jos. For her secondary education, she attended two all-girls boarding schools: Regina Pacis Secondary School in Garki II, Abuja, and St. Louis Girlsโ€™ College in Jos.

Career

Sharon launched her acting career after relocating to Lagos in 2013. In an interview, she shared that her journey into acting started during a photo shoot for a store, which NdaniTV covered. Shortly afterward, the team invited her for a television show interview that never materialized. However, she later landed a small role in the TV series Gidi Up. Her breakout role came when she portrayed Shalewa in Skinny Girl in Transit.

She earned a degree in Mass Communication from Houdegbe North American University, Benin. In 2017, she co-hosted the red carpet event for GT Bank’s Fashion Week alongside actor Timini Egbuson.

In 2020, the media recognized her as a leading female celebrity, and critics named her one of Nollywoodโ€™s most promising stars for 2024. Netflix selected her to represent Nigeria at The Bridgerton Affair event held in South Africa. During the filming of the remake of Glamour Girls, Sharon experienced a brief illness.


Sharon Ooja and Ugo Nwoke dated for two and a half months before tying the knot. In March 2024, she announced her private civil wedding to Ugo, affectionately calling him “Odogwu Silencer.” They celebrated their traditional wedding on 27 June 2024, followed by a white wedding on 29 June 2024. Family members, close friends, and industry colleagues attended both ceremonies.

Despite the spotlight, Sharon has maintained a grounded personal life. Her recent private wedding to Ugo Nwoke marks another exciting chapter in her life. Her journey is a testament to hard work, dedication, and resilience in an ever-evolving industry.
