Early Life

Tope Tedela is the eldest of four children and hails from Ekiti State, Nigeria. He was born in Lagos and attended Lagos State Model College, Meiran for his secondary education. He then earned a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.

Career

Tope Tedela made his screen debut as Julian in the family TV series Edge of Paradise while still a student. After briefly pausing his acting career to focus on his studies, he worked as an on-air personality at UNILAG FM and as a news anchor at NTA. He rose to prominence playing the lead role of Lala in A Mile from Home, which earned him widespread recognition.

In 2015, Tedela starred in A Soldier’s Story and Out of Luck. His portrayal of Kyle Stevens-Adedoyin, a metrosexual character in the 2016 comedy Suru L’ere, received critical praise. The following year, he featured in King Invincible, Ojukokoro, and Slow Country. He also debuted as a producer with the drama thriller What Lies Within.

Tedela appeared in the crime film Knock Out Blessing in 2018 and starred as Dr. Dauda in The Lost Okoroshi, which premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. He also created a one-man play titled Whumanizer. In 2020, he joined Netflix’s first Nigerian original series, directed by Akin Omotoso. In 2022, he played Dr. Adeboye in the Netflix series Blood Sisters.
