Early Life
Mercy Chinwo was born on September 5, 1990, in Rivers State, southern Nigeria. She began singing at the age of six in her church’s children’s choir. Mercy gained national attention after winning the second season of the Nigerian music talent show “Nigerian Idol” in 2012, which significantly propelled her music career.
She earned her first school leaving certificate at Goodwill International School and completed her secondary education at Paradise International School. Mercy furthered her education at the International Business Management Institute (IBMI), where she obtained a degree in Human Resources Management.
Career
Mercy Chinwo launched her gospel music career with the release of her debut single “Testimony” in 2015, followed by “Igwe.” In 2017, she signed with the gospel record label EeZee Conceptz, led by EeZee Tee. She released the hit single “Excess Love” in 2018, which established her as a major force in the Nigerian gospel music scene.
Since then, Mercy has also collaborated with many notable gospel artists such as JJ Hairston, Nathaniel Bassey, Chioma Jesus, Banky W, Joe Praize, Samsong, Moses Bliss, Oluwadunsin Oyekan, Judikay, and Preye Odede, among others.
In 2023, Mercy and her husband launched the MercyisBlessed Foundation, a non-governmental organization focused on supporting the less privileged and promoting youth development.
Mercy married Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa on August 13, 2022, in Port Harcourt. In conclusion,The couple currently resides in Lagos, Nigeria, and welcomed their first child together in 2023.
