Early Life

Mike Abdul, born Michael Olayinka Abdul on February 12, 1977, in Lagos, Nigeria, hails from Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State. His roots trace back to the Ijebu dynasty his father from Ago-Iwoye and his mother from Ijebu-Oru.

He began his education at A-Z Nursery School and continued at Mayflower School in Ikenne. He later studied Electrical Engineering at Yaba College of Technology in Lagos. His passion for ministry led him to study Theology and Christian Education at Faith Christian Theological Seminary in Sango Otta, Ogun State.

Career

Mike Abdul’s professional music journey began on November 8, 2001, when he co-founded the gospel music group Midnight Crew. The group gained national fame with their iconic hit, “Igwe.” Mike also served as an executive officer at Midnight Crew Music Limited and collaborated with Spaghetti Records.

His solo career took off in 2013 with the release of Morire, featuring MoniQue. He later dropped successful albums including Good 2 Go, Korede, and Grateful. His consistent output and unique vocal style made him one of the most featured gospel artists in Nigeria.

Mike’s music career includes collaborations with top gospel musicians such as Tim Godfrey and MoniQue. He earned several awards and became one of Nigeria’s most influential gospel voices. His song “Baba Ese” topped Boomplay’s streaming chart in 2021. In 2022, he graced the stage at The African Praise Experience (TAPE).

Mike Abdul was previously married to Vivien Stephen. He is currently single and focused on his music and ministry.
