Early Life

EESKAY is a Nigerian rapper and singer-songwriter from Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city and one of the country’s most influential hubs for hip-hop and drill music. He emerged onto the music scene in 2016, steadily building his craft within Abuja’s tightly knit rap community before breaking into wider recognition.

Career

EESKAY’s early breakthrough came in 2018 with the viral singles “The Matter” and “Don’t Touch My Shit,” records that quickly earned him a cult following in Abuja, widely regarded as the hip-hop and rap capital of Nigeria. As the frontman of the Double Energy collective, he became known for a hard-hitting, storytelling-driven style that blends British and American drill influences with Afrocentric melodic elements and Nigerian street lingo, a sound he has described as drawing on his Nigerian “base” while layering in outside influences as the “kick.”

He released his debut project, ‘Drill or N.A.H,’ a double offering spanning both drill and his own New Afro Hip-Hop (N.A.H.) style, establishing him as one of the young talents to watch within Nigeria’s rap scene. In 2020, he released “Agbalagba,” featuring fellow Abuja rap stalwart Odumodublvck, a track that became a defining anthem of the city’s drill movement and remains a fan favourite performed word for word at live shows years later. His catalogue also includes fan favourites “Cheffing,” “Gun Fighter,” “No Excuses” and “Redy,” featuring Tedmilez and Reeplay.

EESKAY has remained one of the steady voices representing Abuja’s rap movement alongside contemporaries including Odumodublvck, Tomi Obanure, Reeplay and Zilla Oaks, helping put the capital city on the map as a serious rival to Lagos within Nigeria’s hip-hop landscape. In 2025, he released “LAGOS VS EVERYBODY,” a rebellious anthem with gritty production and sharp delivery that tapped into the competitive energy between Nigeria’s regional hip-hop scenes.

Personal Life

EESKAY has kept much of his personal life private, letting his music and his role within Abuja’s drill scene define his public profile.

With a catalogue built on gritty storytelling and a defining role in shaping Abuja’s drill sound, EESKAY remains one of the artists who helped establish Nigeria’s capital as a genuine force within the country’s hip-hop movement.
