Early Life

Chimezie Imo, born on January 7, 1992, in Lagos State, Nigeria, originates from Orsu Local Government Area in Imo State. From a young age, he engaged in his church’s choir and theatre groups, nurturing his love for performance and storytelling.

Career

Chimezie began his journey in the entertainment industry in 2014, when he emerged as the runner-up on the Nigerian talent competition, The Next Movie Star Reality Show. He made his on-screen debut with the film Learning Curves and gradually gained experience with roles in television shows such as Origin and the comedy series 90 Gogoro.

His breakthrough came in 2018 when he portrayed a conflicted young man succumbing to peer pressure in the popular series MTV Shuga Naija. The same year, Chimezie starred in the critically acclaimed comedy Kasala, which explored the bond of friendship between four boys navigating life’s challenges.

In 2019, he took on the challenging role of a drug-addicted teenager in the film Nimbe, which earned him rave reviews and nominations for Best Actor at the Future Awards and Most Promising Young Actor at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

Chimezie continued to impress with his performance in the 2022 psychodrama Choke, where he portrayed a sickle cell patient struggling with his condition. His powerful portrayal earned him a nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

In 2024, Chimezie expanded his scope by starring in and producing Adam Bol, a Nollywood-Kazakhstani joint film production, further establishing his versatility in the industry.
