Nigerian singer Shoday has weighed in on the staying power of street-hop star Portable, insisting that the controversial artist’s career is unlikely to fade anytime soon.
In a recent interview, Shoday highlighted that Portable’s influence extends far beyond just music. He credited the singer’s raw personality and unfiltered social media presence as key factors in his continued relevance.
“Artists like Portable, before he will go down and not trend again, it’ll be long,” Shoday said. “Music is far beyond a song. People need to know who you are. People need to know your personality.”
According to Shoday, Portable’s willingness to present his life without filters makes him unique in today’s entertainment landscape. “This person doesn’t care. He posts on Instagram like WhatsApp,” he added, describing the singer’s casual and chaotic approach to social media.
When Portable first shot to fame with Zazuu, many dismissed him as a one-year wonder. But years later, he remains firmly in the spotlight. “When he came out, people thought he was only going to trend for a year and that’s that, but till today he’s still buzzing,” Shoday recalled.
He also noted Portable’s ability to turn controversies into opportunities, saying: “Every controversy, there’s a song he drops. He drops a song for it.”
