Early Life
Okereke Blessed Jordan, widely known as Yarden, was born on August 2, 2000. He hails from Abia State but grew up in Lagos, where he completed his primary and secondary education at St. Anthony Primary School and Millennium Secondary School.
He later studied at Yaba College of Technology. Yarden’s musical journey began in the church, where he discovered his passion for singing. While in school, he actively participated in rap battles and talent shows, gradually developing his skills and taking music more seriously.
Career
Yarden took a major step in his career when he signed with Etins Records on August 4, 2020. He gained widespread attention in November 2022 with the release of his breakout single Wetin. The track went viral on TikTok, which propelled him into the spotlight and earned him a debut on national music charts. Wetin resonated deeply with audiences and achieved massive streaming success, surpassing 54 million streams on Spotify by early 2025.
The song’s popularity also earned it a spot among the most underrated Nigerian tracks and one of the top songs of the year. In January 2023, Yarden ranked among the top five trending Nigerian artists on Audiomack.
On December 5, 2023, he released his debut EP The One Who Descends, featuring collaborations with Swayvee and Morien. The project received positive critical acclaim and showcased his ability to blend soulful vocals with contemporary Afrobeat rhythms.
Yarden’s rise from church singer to a breakout star proves his passion and persistence. With his unique voice, lyrical depth, and viral success, he continues to establish himself as one of Nigeria’s most promising young artists.
