The 17-track project represents SDC’s artistic evolution. Freed from the sonic frameworks of their past releases, they embrace a fresh, boundary-pushing sound that feels expansive yet deeply grounded.
Almost entirely produced by their longtime collaborator Spax, “AFRIKA MAGIK” opens with “Libations,” a lush, jazz-infused tribute to Nigerian legends like King Sunny Ade and William Onyeabor. From the first note, the album sets a tone of reflection, celebration, and also reverence for African artistry.
A Stellar Cast and Rich Sonic Palette
The project features a powerful lineup of collaborators, including Tems, BOJ, Winny, and Mereba, who all add depth and texture to the duo’s narrative-driven sound. Musically, “AFRIKA MAGIK” fuses hip-hop, R&B, soul, alté, and Afro-fusion, creating a soundscape that feels both nostalgic and futuristic.
