Georgina Onuoha is a Nigerian actress, model, television personality, and philanthropist who rose to prominence during Nollywood’s foundational years in the 1990s and remains an outspoken figure in Nigerian entertainment and public discourse.

Born Georgina Onuoha on September 29, 1980, in Lagos to parents of Anambra State origin, she joined Nollywood at a young age, appearing in minor roles before her breakout in the landmark 1992 film Living in Bondage, a movie widely credited with popularising the modern Nigerian film industry. She went on to study at Lagos State University, earning degrees in International Law and Diplomacy as well as International Relations and Strategic Studies.

Onuoha’s career gained further momentum in 2003 with her role in the blockbuster Egg of Life, alongside veteran actors including Pete Edochie and Nkiru Sylvanus, a performance that won her the Nollywood Most Promising Actress award at the Africa Movie Academy Awards. She followed this with a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the same awards in 2006, and appeared in numerous other notable titles including Die Another Day, Valentino, and Osuofia in London.

After stepping back from acting to focus on her marriage and later to manage a prolonged health struggle, Onuoha relocated to the United States, where she earned further qualifications in Healthcare Administration and Health Informatics, working for several years in quality assurance within the American healthcare sector. She made a notable return to Nollywood in 2016 with the film Ure, addressing themes around medical misdiagnosis.

Beyond her acting career, Onuoha has become known for her candid commentary on Nigerian social and political issues, frequently using her platform to speak out on governance and public welfare, adding an activist dimension to a career that first began more than three decades ago at the dawn of the Nollywood era.
