Early Life
Foluke Daramola-Salako was born on 15 February 1978 in Lagos State, Nigeria, though she hails from Ekiti State. Her father passed away when she was just three years old, leaving her mother, Reverend Aderonke Daramola, to raise her in a home deeply rooted in faith and discipline. She completed her primary and secondary education in Lagos before proceeding to Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations.
Career
Foluke Daramola discovered her passion for acting while still a university student, making her Nollywood debut in 1998 in the series ‘Palace.’ Over more than two decades, she has built a filmography of over 100 productions across both English and Yoruba cinema, earning a reputation for emotional depth and commanding screen presence. In 2013, she received a nomination for the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for ‘Cobweb,’ a film she also produced.
Beyond acting, Foluke founded the “Action Against Rape in Africa” initiative, a movement dedicated to curbing sexual violence and holding perpetrators accountable across the continent. In May 2026, she made a significant move into active politics, obtaining her N10 million nomination and expression of interest forms from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the House of Representatives seat for Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency 1 ahead of the 2027 general elections. She went on to win the APC primary for the constituency later that month, defeating other aspirants to secure the party’s ticket, becoming one of several Nollywood figures, alongside actor Zubby Michael, transitioning into legislative politics.
