Asake’s “Forgiveness” has moved back up to No. 10 on the Official Nigeria Top 100, marking a sixteenth non-consecutive week inside the top ten for one of the most durable records of his career.
The track arrived on April 30 as part of M$NEY, his fourth studio album, released through Giran Republic and EMPIRE. Production came from Magicsticks, Asake’s most trusted collaborator, alongside Nana Ntorinkansah.
It has already led the Nigerian singles chart for three weeks across separate runs, and has passed 30 million streams on Spotify alone, sitting second only to “Gratitude” among his most-played tracks.
The song sits in the reflective register Asake has increasingly favoured, working through themes of grace and reckoning rather than the pure celebration that defined his earlier run. It is the kind of record that rewards repeat listening, which is largely why it keeps climbing back rather than fading out.
M$NEY was the first album released under Asake’s own imprint, Giran Republic, in partnership with EMPIRE, following his departure from YBNL Nation. It recorded 42.2 million streams in its first week on Spotify Nigeria, the biggest opening week for any album on the platform in the country.
The album’s chart week was historic in its own right. Asake held all of the first seven positions on the Official Nigeria Top 100 simultaneously, with nine of the top ten entries, setting a record for the most top ten entries by one artist in a single week. “Forgiveness” debuted at No. 2 that week.
M$NEY has since returned to No. 1 on the Official Top 100 Albums Chart for a fourteenth non-consecutive week, equalling FOLA’s catharsis and Seyi Vibez’s Billion Dollar Baby 2.0 for the joint second-longest run in Nigerian chart history.
With “Gratitude” also still in the top ten at No. 8, Asake remains one of the few artists holding multiple positions in the upper half of the chart four months after his album landed.
