Boluwatife Balogun, the eldest son of Afrobeats superstar Wizkid, has revealed origin of his Muslim name and the family history behind it.
During social media interactions on Monday, March 16, the teenager disclosed that his Boluwatife Islamic name is Abdul Rahman. He explained that the name was given to him by his paternal grandfather.
The conversation began after Boluwatife shared a post explaining that the current month of Ramadan carries special meaning for him this year.
A user on X (formerly Twitter) then asked the teenager to reveal his Arabic name.
“Abdul Rahman.”
Boluwatife later provided more details about the origin of the name.
“My Muslim name, ‘Abdul Rahman,’ was given to me by my paternal grandfather.”
The revelation highlights the religious background of Wizkid’s father, Alhaji Muniru Olatunji Balogun, who is a practicing Muslim. Although the Grammy-winning artist rarely discusses his family’s religious background publicly, Wizkid appeared to acknowledge the moment shortly afterward.
The singer shared a brief message on his X account.
“Love God.”
The exchange quickly gained attention online. Many fans interpreted Wizkid’s post as a supportive gesture toward his son’s public acknowledgment of his heritage.
