The Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu has ruled on Mohbad’s death, sparking fresh online reactions. Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi ordered criminal prosecution for auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe, calling her actions “gross negligence” for giving the late singer an injection without a doctor’s prescription.

The court found no proof of homicide but stated the nurse acted unlawfully. Mohbad, real name Ilerioluwa Aloba, died on September 12, 2023, after sustaining an injury and getting treated at home.

Nineteen witnesses testified. The coroner said Mohbad died within hours of the injection. The inquest began in September 2023 after public outcry.

Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, was criticised for burying him quickly without proper documentation, which hindered investigations. His partner, Omowunmi, was faulted for not protecting him better when he was dying or during burial, though her emotional state was noted.

The court also ordered an investigation into the police for ignoring Mohbad’s petition before his death, calling it negligence. The Human Rights Commission was asked to probe his harassment claims against music industry figures like Naira Marley and Sam Larry, though the court said their bullying did not directly cause his death.

The magistrate concluded that Mohbad faced psychological trauma and was failed by his family, friends, the police, and the industry. Fans are now demanding full justice based on the court’s recommendations.
