Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed a major lifestyle change, stating that he has largely given up his previous habit of frequent clubbing to focus on family time.
Speaking during a recent appearance on The Long Form podcast, the singer explained that his priorities shifted following his marriage to long-term partner Chioma Adeleke. Davido reflected on the early years of his career, admitting that his sudden rise to fame led to a lack of restraint.
“Blowing up at a young age with freedom, power and money, I used to be very reckless. I used to go to the club everyday,” he stated.
He noted that his behavior has since changed:
“But these days, I don’t even go to the clubs. I was in Nigeria for almost two months and I didn’t go out.”
Instead of nightlife, Davido now enjoys a routine centered on his home studio and private gatherings.
“I was just at home and I was having fun. I was just chilling in my studio, and inviting people to make barbecue for me. It was fun. And before you know it, it’s 3 am or 4:30 am,” he said.
The singer also emphasized that maintaining a connection with his wife remains a priority, even while traveling.
“I just go home, call my wife, sleep off on FaceTime.”
Despite this shift, Davido clarified that he has not retired from the nightlife scene entirely. He still makes appearances at clubs for professional gigs or to honor invitations from close associates. However, his personal preference now leans toward rest and stability.
“Anytime I get the chance to sleep now, I rush go sleep.”
