FirstKlaz has taken his viral hit “Gen-Z Arewa” to another level with the release of its remix, “Gen-Z Arewazobia,” bringing together Igbo rap star Jeriq and street-pop heavyweight Zlatan alongside the Abuja-based Arewa artist on one record.
The remix builds on the original “Gen-Z Arewa,” which had already gone viral off the back of FirstKlaz’s fusion of the Hausa Kalangu sound with contemporary Afrobeats production. By bringing on Jeriq and Zlatan, two artists strongly associated with the South-East and South-West respectively, the remix effectively turns the record into a cross-regional statement, with three of Nigeria’s distinct musical identities sharing the same beat.
