“you” has become FOLA‘s most streamed song on Spotify, passing 62 million streams and standing as the biggest record of his career so far.

The Kel-P-produced single narrowly leads “Very Soon,” his collaboration with Bnxn, which sits just under 62 million. Both are comfortably ahead of the rest of his catalogue, with “caricature” third at around 34.5 million and “Paparazzi” with Shoday at roughly 24 million.

On Audiomack the song has logged more than 61 million plays, alongside over 219,000 playlist adds, giving it one of the deepest streaming footprints of any Nigerian record released in 2025.

Released on August 7, 2025 through Dangbana Republik Records and EMPIRE, “you” arrived as the second single from catharsis, his debut studio album, following “lost” with Kizz Daniel and ahead of “eko.”

Production came from Kel-P, the Grammy-winning producer best known for his work on Burna Boy’s African Giant. The record sits in an Afro-R&B register, built on restraint rather than volume, and it is that softness that has given it such a long tail.

Commercially, “you” reached a peak of No. 2 on the Official Nigeria Top 100 in September 2025, held off the top only by Young Jonn’s “Cash Flow” with Wizkid. It remains the highest-charting solo single of FOLA’s career.

The song also anchored one of the most successful debut album runs in recent Nigerian music. catharsis spent fourteen non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Official Top 100 Albums Chart, a total matched only by Seyi Vibez’s Billion Dollar Baby 2.0 and Asake’s M$NEY, and one week behind the all-time record.

Born Afolarin Odunlami in Lagos, FOLA first broke through in 2022 with “Ginger Me” alongside Bella Shmurda, signed to Dangbana Republik in October 2024, and released his debut EP what a feeling that December. He was later named Nigeria’s top artist of October 2025 by TurnTable Charts.

He has since kept up a relentless release pace, from “treat u right” with Ayra Starr to “attention!” and a feature on Davido’s “B4 B4,” currently No. 1 in Nigeria. That “you” still leads his streaming numbers a year on says a great deal about how well it has aged.

“you” by FOLA is available on all streaming platforms.
