Nigerian music executive Jude Okoye has shared his thoughts on the qualifications needed for people to hold political offices in the country. The older brother of Psquare believes that anyone planning to run for any political position should at least have a university degree.
Jude Okoye made this known on his Instagram story. He questioned why it seems so hard to reform Nigeria’s electoral act to include such a requirement. According to him, it makes no sense for uneducated people to be the ones making decisions for those who are educated.
In his words, “How hard is it to reform our electoral act, making at least a Uni Bachelor’s degree a benchmark for qualification to run for any office in Nigeria. We can’t have the uneducated leading the educated.”

His statement has stirred mixed reactions online. While some agree with him, saying education is important for leadership, others believe a degree doesn’t guarantee good governance or integrity.
Jude Okoye is well known in the Nigerian music industry for managing and supporting the careers of top artists, including his brothers Peter and Paul Okoye of Psquare. His views on politics often generate conversations among fans because he speaks from a place of influence and experience.
Whether or not his suggestion becomes reality, it has sparked another debate on what true leadership qualifications should be in Nigeria.
