Kendrick Lamar Becomes Chanel’s Newest Brand Ambassador
Kendrick Lamar just added fashion icon to his already stacked résumé. The Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper is now the latest face of Chanel, debuting with a sleek new eyewear campaign expected later this week.
This move marks a bold step for the legendary French fashion house, which rarely features menswear in its ready-to-wear line. But Lamar isn’t just anyone—he’s a creative force who continues to redefine music, fashion, and culture.
A Fashion Relationship Years in the Making
Chanel’s connection with Kendrick began in 2023. That year, he stunned at the Met Gala celebrating Karl Lagerfeld, wearing a custom quilted leather bomber designed by then-creative director Virginie Viard.
The bond only grew stronger. By January 2024, Chanel enlisted Kendrick and Dave Free to design the set for its haute couture show. The result? A striking illuminated medallion and a short film titled The Button, created through their studio PGlang.
Chanel Eyewear: Timeless Meets Trailblazer
Though Chanel isn’t known for menswear, its eyewear line offers creative flexibility. That’s exactly what drew Kendrick in.
“Chanel has a timeless legacy and that is always something I can get behind,” Kendrick shared. “Since they don’t make clothes for men, I knew it would have to be glasses.”

Photographer Karim Sadli shot the campaign, capturing Lamar’s signature edge with Chanel’s refined aesthetic.
Bruno Pavlovsky, President of Chanel Fashion, emphasized the importance of this category:
“We strongly believe in eyewear and its potential… it brings a finishing touch to the silhouette.”
A New Era for Kendrick and Chanel
At 37, Kendrick Lamar shows no signs of slowing down. He has 22 Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize for DAMN., and six Cannes Lions through PGlang.
His 2024 track Not Like Us sparked global conversation, proving his cultural dominance extends far beyond music. By aligning with Chanel, Kendrick continues to expand his influence—now with luxury fashion under his belt.
As Chanel broadens its creative circle, this collaboration signals a new era—one where vision, legacy, and individuality lead the way.
