In a recent video shared widely on social media, Mr. Yakubu explained that the ongoing treatment has drained his finances. Although friends, clerics, and colleagues from the film industry have supported him, the cost of care continues to rise.

He expressed gratitude to those who have stood by him, saying, “I sincerely thank everyone who has supported me especially the clerics, the Arewa 24 team, and the Kannywood Vanguard. May Allah bless you all.”

Despite the support, Mr. Yakubu emphasized the urgency of his situation. “I need help,” he said. “Every three weeks, I must pay ₦250,000 for a single injection. Even the hospital bed alone costs ₦51,000. I also ask anyone I may have wronged to please forgive me.”

Originally from Yobe State, Mr. Yakubu began acting in 1986 and has contributed significantly to Kannywood. Not only has he acted in numerous films, but he has also written more scripts than he has performed in, showcasing his deep involvement in the creative process.

Today, he lives with his three wives and ten children, who continue to support him through this difficult time

Mato Yakubu Nata’ala’s call for help serves as a powerful reminder of the financial hardships actors often face during serious health crises.
