MTN Nigeria has kicked off a fresh new music reality show called Next Afrobeats Star (NAS), and it’s already creating a buzz. The show officially launched on Saturday, August 2, during a media event at the MTN Rooftop Event Centre in Lagos. With this new platform, MTN is searching for the next big Afrobeats sensation from every corner of Nigeria.
According to Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka, Chief Marketing Officer at MTN Nigeria, NAS is about giving young Nigerian talents a real shot at global fame. “We believe that every Nigerian deserves a chance to be seen, heard, and celebrated,” she said. It’s not just about competition—it’s about creating opportunity and progress for talented youths across the country.

Powered by MTN Nigeria in collaboration with Ultima Studios and ONErpm, the show promises something fresh. Finalists won’t just sing covers—they’ll get to perform original tracks created by top producers like Sarz, Andre Vibez, Puffy Tee, and P. Prime. The winner walks away with a massive $100,000 music deal, while other finalists will get music deals ranging between $25,000 and $75,000.
Femi Ayeni, CEO of Ultima Studios, shared what sets the show apart: “For the first time, the producers are making original songs for the contestants.” This means fans will hear fresh sounds, not just covers.
Registration is easy—just text NAS to 13013 to get started. From there, hopefuls can submit songs digitally using provided instrumentals. There will also be live auditions in Jos, Enugu, and Lagos.
With this move, MTN is investing in more than just music. It’s pushing forward Nigeria’s creative culture and making sure no talent goes unnoticed.
