Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo said she was recently invited by the EFCC. This was because people sprayed money at her daughter’s wedding last month, which went viral online.

She shared on Instagram that she got the EFCC letter while in the UK. When she returned to Nigeria, she went to their office on May 5, 2025. There, they asked her questions about her life, work, and background.

“I recently had an experience with the EFCC in Nigeria after receiving an invitation letter while I was in the UK. Upon my return, I visited the EFCC on the 5th day of May 2025, where I was asked several questions relating to my personal bio data, career, work experience, and companies, amongst others,” she shared.

According to her, the EFCC showed her clips from the wedding ceremony where guests were seen spraying both naira and foreign currencies. She noted that officials asked if she was aware this act was illegal.

“I was asked if I knew this was illegal, and I explained that I thought only abuse or mutilation of the Naira was an offense,” she said.

Iyabo admitted she was surprised to learn that spraying money, whether naira or foreign currency, is not permitted under Nigerian law.

“The EFCC officials clarified that spraying money, including on people’s bodies, is prohibited. I was surprised to learn that spraying any currency, including Dollars, is also not allowed,” she added.

She has now advised Nigerians to avoid spraying money at events to prevent similar encounters with the authorities.

The actress’s daughter, Priscilla Ojo, recently married Tanzanian singer Juma Jux in a grand celebration that attracted several celebrities and fans alike.
