Early Life

Ada Ameh was born on May 15, 1974, and raised in Ajegunle, Lagos State, although she hailed from the Idoma ethnic group in Benue State. She completed her primary and part of her secondary education in Lagos. At just 14 years old, she became a mother, a life-changing event that also led her to leave school early.

Career

In 1995, Ada Ameh entered the Nigerian film industry with determination and quickly made her mark. Her breakout role came in 1996 when she portrayed Anita in the hit film Domitilla, directed by Zeb Ejiro. Her performance won the hearts of many and established her as a household name in Nollywood.

Years later, she gained even greater popularity as Emu Johnson in the award-winning Nigerian sitcom The Johnsons. Her character brought humor and warmth to screens across the country. She starred alongside well-known actors such as Charles Inojie, Chinedu Ikedieze, and Olumide Oworu, further elevating her career

Later Life
Ada Ameh faced several personal tragedies, including the heartbreaking loss of her only daughter in 2020. This loss deeply affected her and contributed to her mental health struggles. On July 17, 2022, she collapsed and passed away in Warri at the age of 48. She was honored with a tribute by the Actors Guild of Nigeria and laid to rest on August 26 in Otukpo, Benue State.

Ada Ameh’s legacy lives on through the characters she portrayed and the laughter she brought to countless homes. Her resilience, talent, and warmth made her one of Nollywood’s most cherished figures.
