Early Life

Deyemi was born in Lagos to Adeyemi Okanlawon, an aircraft engineer, and Adeyinka Okanlawon, a baker and entrepreneur. He started his education at Taikenny Nursery and Primary School and later moved to the International School, Lagos. He obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos and a Certificate in Acting for Film from Delyork Creative Academy.

Career

Deyemi’s acting journey began at age five in a school play, followed by a national TV commercial at age nine. During university, he remained active in drama, and after graduating, worked in sales and marketing within the FMCG sector. In 2011, he transitioned into film, debuting in ZR-7: The Red House Seven and the short film A Grain of Wheat. His roles in web series like Gidi Up, Blink, and Knock Knock further elevated his profile.

In 2013, he shifted to acting full-time and has since featured in over 50 productions. His range earned him numerous nominations and awards across the continent. Deyemi founded Covenant Entertainment Services in 2015, offering production and marketing consultancy, which later led to his executive role at Silverbird Film Distribution, where he briefly served as acting CEO in 2020.

He returned to acting in 2021 with renewed focus, gaining further acclaim in Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Blood Sisters, and Elesin Oba. In 2024, he produced All’s Fair in Love, a romantic comedy that became a box office hit and a streaming favorite on Prime Video. His second production, Three Working Days, a heist thriller starring top Nollywood talent, premiered in October 2024.

Deyemi Okanlawon married Damilola in January 2013. They welcomed their first child on 10 July 2016 and continue to maintain a relatively private family life while supporting each other’s endeavors.
