Lawyers representing Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as OdumoduBlvck, have petitioned the Lagos State Police Command over an alleged attempt by officers to arrest the musician at about 3:00am on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
The petition, dated August 31 and filed by Marshal Attorneys, was addressed to the Assistant Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lagos State Police Command. According to the legal team, officers of the Nigeria Police Force arrived at the rapper’s location in the early hours of August 29 carrying an invitation letter purportedly issued by the Command. The lawyers wrote, “On the 29th of August, 2026 at about 3:00am, officers of the Nigerian Police Force purportedly acting on your Command swooped on our Client with an invitation letter purportedly issued by your good self.”
The alleged incident reportedly unfolded following an OdumoduBlvck performance at a Lagos nightclub, with a video later circulating online showing the rapper in a heated exchange with officers at the scene. In the clip, OdumoduBlvck can be heard insisting he was not resisting arrest but questioning the legality of the attempt, saying, “You don’t have the jurisdiction; you came to my house. Don’t tell me to wait. You told my estate people to tell me to come, and I told my lawyers, and they attended to it. I am not resisting an arrest.” He also claimed a court motion barred police from arresting him at the time, adding, “There is a motion ex parte that says you cannot arrest me. Why should I follow you? It is illegal.”
His legal team argue the timing raises serious questions, noting that the action came despite their earlier response to a prior police invitation and despite one of their lawyers previously denying that the invitation letter had actually been authored by the officer named as its issuer. The lawyers also pointed out that the Inspector General of Police’s office was already handling the broader matter through its Monitoring Unit, and that a related case is pending before an Abuja Magistrate Court, arguing that a separate police investigation should not proceed while that case is still before the court.
“We request that you cause an urgent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the actions complained of herein,” the lawyers stated in the petition, which also urged the Lagos Command to defer to the Inspector General’s office rather than pursue the matter independently. In a separate statement, the rapper’s legal representative Adokiye further denied that any outstanding arrest warrant exists against OdumoduBlvck, rejecting suggestions that he remains wanted by the police and maintaining that he has never evaded a legitimate invitation or resisted lawful procedure.
The alleged arrest attempt is the latest development in a tense stretch for OdumoduBlvck, whose legal troubles have piled up in recent months. Chocolate City reportedly filed a ₦50 million suit against him over an alleged staff member assault, while a separate Abuja court matter stems from accusations that he intimidated a Chocolate City executive amid his ongoing public fallout with the label’s camp, including his falling out with M.I Abaga and his continuing feud with Blaqbonez, which has recently pulled in leaked chats and old clash videos as well as a separate police detention dispute involving figures connected to the feud.
As of this report, the Lagos State Police Command has not publicly responded to the allegations contained in the petition. The circumstances surrounding the alleged 3am arrest attempt remain unclear, and it is not yet known when or whether an official response or investigation outcome will be made public.
