Maiduguri-born artist OG Abbah has emerged as one of the standout breakout stories in Arewa music, driven almost entirely by the runaway success of his single “Wayyo Allah Na,” which has racked up millions of plays and turned into a genuine cultural moment across Northern Nigeria and beyond.
Released in early 2025, “Wayyo Allah Na,” which translates loosely to “Oh my God,” blends Hausa lyricism with Afrobeats instrumentation and a Kalangu-driven percussion groove, produced with input from DJ Abdullahi. The song’s title captures both a cry for help and an expression of gratitude, themes that resonate deeply within Northern Nigeria’s socio-cultural landscape, and its message around self-reliance and spending one’s own hard-earned money struck an immediate chord.
The track quickly went viral on TikTok, spawning countless lyric videos, reaction clips and dance challenges from fans across the country. Its momentum led to an official remix featuring fellow Arewa artists B.O.C Madaki and Mr442, released later in 2025 to keep the song’s run alive well beyond its initial release window.
“Wayyo Allah Na” builds on OG Abbah’s 2024 debut album “North Vibez,” a ten-track project that first introduced his style of merging cultural elements with mainstream Afrobeats appeal.
