Nollywood actor Ime Bishop Umoh, famously known as Okon Lagos, has made a heartfelt appeal to the Federal Government, urging them to release Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Speaking during a recent podcast interview on The Clarity Zone, Umoh stressed that while the legal framework might not support Kanu’s release, doing so would be the morally correct path.

Umoh also maintained that releasing Kanu would promote peace, healing, and national reconciliation. He stated that Kanu’s agitation for Biafra stemmed from an emotional response to what he perceived as the continuous marginalization of the Igbo people in Nigeria.

“I am one million percent of the opinion that Nnamdi Kanu should be freed. Free him,” Umoh asserted. “It may not make legal sense depending on what they have claimed or the evidence presented, but it makes moral common sense.”

He went on to clarify that emotional decisions, though often flawed, are human, and Kanu’s actions were driven by a genuine concern for his people. Umoh argued that understanding this emotional context is key to moving forward as a nation.

His comments have added a new dimension to the public discourse surrounding Kanu’s detention, highlighting a growing call for dialogue and political resolution over legal battles.

Ime Bishop Umoh’s call for Nnamdi Kanu’s release underscores the urgent need for empathy, reconciliation, and unity in Nigeria’s journey toward lasting peace.
