Iguma explained that his family is deeply distressed, especially after speaking briefly with his uncle, who sounded weak, injured, and barely able to talk. He said the abductors assaulted his uncle before demanding a ransom. Initially, they demanded ₦100 million, but they later lowered the demand to ₦50 million.

Despite reporting the incident promptly, Iguma criticized the police for their slow and ineffective response. He said the law enforcement presence has been minimal, leaving his family feeling unprotected and vulnerable during the terrifying ordeal.

Iguma highlighted the attackers’ boldness, noting that they operated without fear, a disturbing sign of the wider security breakdown in many parts of Nigeria. He pointed out that insecurity often seems distant until it strikes close to home and now it has affected his own family, making the threat painfully real.

In his statement, Iguma lamented the deteriorating state of public safety, stressing that ordinary citizens feel surrounded by danger with limited support. His call for urgent action joins the growing chorus of Nigerians demanding that the government and security agencies tackle kidnappings and violent crime decisively.
