Nollywood actress Tope Osoba has shared her emotional journey of surviving breast cancer, a battle that tested her faith, strength, and resilience.
In an interview on Oyinmomo TV, the 39-year-old actress revealed that she first discovered a lump in her breast in 2023 during a self-examination. Concerned, she visited the hospital, but the doctor dismissed her fears, attributing it to her age and the fact that she had not given birth or breastfed.
As the lump continued to grow, Tope Osoba turned to her aunt for advice. She was later referred for further tests at a general hospital in Sagamu, where doctors confirmed it was cancerous. Out of fear of how she might react, her aunt withheld the diagnosis for six months before finally breaking the news.
The actress admitted the revelation was devastating, especially when she was informed that medications could affect her ability to conceive for the next five years. At 38, this was a painful reality to face, but she chose to hold onto her faith and proceed with surgery after tests revealed more tumours in her breast.
Faced with a hospital bill of N15 million, Osoba received financial support from family, friends, and colleagues. Actress Foluke Daramola also helped raise funds online, and the overwhelming support gave Osoba strength to keep fighting.
Thankfully, after undergoing surgery, doctors declared her free of tumours and cleared her to conceive. The actress described this as a moment of relief and gratitude, acknowledging everyone who stood by her during the toughest phase of her life.
Tope Osoba’s story is not just one of survival but also a powerful reminder about the importance of early detection, regular checkups, and unwavering hope in the face of life’s biggest battles.
