Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo) Biography

Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died at the age of 66 after battling stage-four cancer. The Yoruba film star reportedly died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, after his health deteriorated following a prolonged illness.

His death was announced by his daughter, Kira Taiwo, during an emotional Instagram Live session, in which she repeatedly said, “My daddy is dead.” Fellow actor Jide Kosoko also confirmed the death, and veteran actor Saheed Balogun described the news as painful while praying for the repose of Ogogo’s soul.

The announcement came just days after his daughters, Kira and Haleemah, publicly disclosed that their father had been diagnosed with stage-four cancer roughly three weeks earlier, a condition that had initially been treated as an ulcer before further examination revealed its severity. The family had appealed for urgent medical assistance as some institutions said they could no longer continue chemotherapy, and prominent Yoruba actors and filmmakers gathered in Lagos for a prayer session on his behalf as his condition worsened.

According to a burial announcement shared by veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Ogogo will be buried on Monday, August 24, at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State.
