The #EndSars protests have been driven by the Nigerian youth and empowered by it’s celebrities. Nigerian entertainers have been lending their voices on social media, in person and in kind as they see the importance of the movement. However, not every celebrity has had something nice to say about the protest.
Ex-Big Brother Naija housemate, Gifty Powers, shared a rather discouraging message on her Instagram page today. Following the shooting on Tuesday the 20th of October, Gifty asked the protesters why they stayed inside and why they are not outside still protesting. She believes the protest is very risky and has laid waste to a lot of lives.
Later today, Gifty took to her Instagram page to apologize and ask for forgiveness for her insensitivity. She wrote “Please find it in your Heart to forgive me. I am sorry.”
The collective aim at the moment is for an end to the ongoing violence.
