Nigerian singer Obumneme Ali, popularly known as Smash and one half of the famous music duo Bracket, has given his perspective on the long-running feud between P-Square brothers Peter and Paul Okoye.

Speaking on the AFRIMMA Podcast alongside his bandmate Vast, Smash revealed that the rift between the twin brothers is deeper than the public may think. According to him, the problem is “spiritual.”

Smash, who noted that he is closer to Paul but often visits Peter as well, explained that he has tried to intervene in the feud. However, he believes the root of their issues goes beyond the physical.

He said, “I’m closer to Paul than Peter, but I always go to Peter’s house and he listens to me whenever I speak to him. But unfortunately, if you ask me as an insider, I will say that the problem is spiritual. The last time I met Paul, I told him his problem with his brother Peter wasn’t normal, that it’s spiritual, and he agreed.”

The Bracket star expressed sadness over the fallout, pointing out how close the brothers once were and how passionately they built the P-Square brand alongside their elder brother Jude.

“If you know how close these guys were and how they worked, you will feel so bad looking at what is going on today. Jude was part of P-Square. Paul and Peter loved that brand with so much passion,” he added.

P-Square, who dominated the Afrobeats scene with countless hits and electrifying performances, officially reunited in 2021 after years of a public split. However, comments like Smash’s show that fans and colleagues still worry about the depth of the rift between the famous twins.
