Odeal Declares Wizkid’s Ojuelegba the Greatest Afrobeats Song of All Time
Nigerian-British singer-songwriter Odeal has declared Wizkid’s Ojuelegba as the greatest Afrobeats song ever, cementing the 2014 anthem’s place as a cultural milestone.
The rising artist, known for his hit Odogwu and a feature on Patek, made the bold claim in a Billboard video released on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, where he ranked some of Afrobeats’ most iconic tracks in a head-to-head showdown.
Among the contenders were P-Square’s Chop My Money, Davido’s Fall, D’Banj’s Oliver Twist, and CKay’s Love Nwantiti. Yet for Odeal, the decision was clear: Wizkid’s Ojuelegba deserved the number one spot.
“That is an incredible song. That’s like the Nigerian national anthem, 100 percent. You have to know that song,” Odeal said with conviction.
Released more than a decade ago, Ojuelegba is widely considered a turning point in Afrobeats’ global rise. Beyond cementing Wizkid’s superstar status in Nigeria, the track caught international attention.
By crowning Ojuelegba as the greatest Afrobeats track of all time, Odeal echoed what many fans already believe: the record is more than just a song—it’s a timeless classic and a symbol of Afrobeats’ enduring influence across generations.
