The Recording Academy welcomed Davido and other global music professionals as part of its commitment to greater international representation. Voting members will begin the selection process from October 3, reviewing the ballot and casting votes across major categories.

Davido expressed gratitude for the opportunity and called the appointment a “game-changer” in his career.

“Understanding the importance of how our voices are heard, I am participating in the GRAMMY Award process. I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on in each season,” he said. “I am honoured to be part of the Recording Academy community.”

Davido, who earned three GRAMMY nominations in 2024, views his membership as more than a personal win it marks a major step forward in global recognition for African music. His involvement reinforces the influence of Afrobeats and celebrates Nigeria’s growing role on the world music stage.

His inclusion also aligns with the Recording Academy’s push to diversify its membership and include more international voices in the decision-making process.

By joining the Recording Academy as a voting member, Davido not only secures a seat at the table but also carries the banner for African music into one of the world’s most respected music institutions.
