Early Life
Daniel Lloyd is a Nigerian actor and former talent manager known for his versatility and pioneering contributions to Nollywood. He was born in Lagos State and hails from the Ijaw tribe in Bayelsa State. Lloyd pursued higher education at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Though he trained as an engineer, Lloyd followed his passion for the arts, a decision that initially disappointed his father, who had hoped he would follow in his footsteps as an oil industry engineer.
Career
Daniel Lloyd began his acting career by starring in the television soap opera Pradah, where he portrayed the character Patrick. His breakthrough role marked the beginning of a promising journey in Nollywood. In 2016, he was nominated for Most Promising Actor of the Year (English) at the City People Entertainment Awards, solidifying his status as a rising star.
In a groundbreaking move, Lloyd became one of the first Nigerian actors to feature in a Bollywood film. He played the lead role in J.U.D.E., an international project that expanded his reach beyond African cinema.
Before fully committing to acting, Lloyd also worked as a talent manager. He managed Nigerian music star Timaya, whom he met during the “Straight to Star” talent hunt show in Port Harcourt in 2006. While Timaya competed in the music category, Lloyd represented the acting segment.
In 2019, Daniel Lloyd married Nollywood actress Empress Njamah, blending two strong creative forces within the industry.
