Nigerian singer Oluwafemi Oladapo, widely known as Slimcase, has voiced his concerns about the growing oversaturation in the Afrobeats music scene. According to him, many Nigerian artists are placing themselves under unnecessary pressure by constantly releasing new singles and albums.

Recently, in a candid social media post, Slimcase explained that the overwhelming volume of content is starting to affect the quality of the genre. As a result, he encouraged artists to slow down and give room for creativity to breathe, rather than focusing solely on constant output.

“Too many songs, too many albums. You’re putting yourselves under too much pressure in this Nigeria,” he stated. “Take a chill pill and be like Rihanna. Do other things and come back with a fresh vibe.”

Furthermore, Slimcase warned that the relentless pace is leading to listener fatigue. He stressed that music is beginning to lose its freshness and excitement. In his words, “Your sounds are getting boring because they’re coming too much in a year. I owe them one song this year, and that’s it.”

Moreover, he added, “Only God is new every morning. Releasing singles and albums every second is slowly killing the joy in Afrobeats. It’s not fun anymore.”

In conclusion, Slimcase’s message serves as a wake-up call to the industry. He urges Nigerian artists to prioritize quality over quantity, reminding them that timeless music comes from patience and inspiration not pressure.
