Popular Nigerian comedian and government supporter Seyi Law has publicly apologized for his earlier remarks about Nigeria’s security situation. In a video shared on his Instagram account, the entertainer addressed the backlash following his appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast, where he had claimed that the country is safer now than it was ten years ago.

The comedian described his previous statement as a mistake, noting it failed to acknowledge ongoing challenges like terrorism and kidnapping affecting many Nigerians. He emphasized his willingness to admit when he is wrong.

“My fellow Nigerians, I owe you this & more. I’m sincerely sorry for such an insensitive statement that I made on the Honest Bunch podcast. I’m not someone who would be too proud or very insensitive to apologize when he makes mistakes,” Seyi Law stated.

He further acknowledged the pain his words caused victims of violent crime and their families. Seyi Law admitted that his assessment of national safety was poorly judged given the current climate of insecurity.

“I had looked at that statement and I think it is quite insensitive to those who have had an issue with kidnapping, relatives been killed and all that. I want to sincerely and unreservedly tender an apology to those who that statement has hurt. I believe that statement is very insensitive,” he added.

Beyond issuing the apology, Seyi Law urged the administration of Bola Tinubu to prioritize citizen protection. He concluded by calling on the federal government to take Nigeria’s security situation seriously to prevent further loss of life.
