Razaaq Adoti is a British-Nigerian actor and writer who has spent much of his career working across UK film and television before taking on a starring, co-writing role in one of Nigeria’s most decorated action dramas of 2025.
Adoti leads Son of the Soil as Zion Ladejo, a former Nigerian Special Operations soldier who returns home after his sister is killed, only to find his community under the grip of a violent drug cartel. Beyond starring in the film, Adoti co-wrote the screenplay alongside director Chee Keong Cheung, giving him significant creative input over how the story of justice, corruption, and community was told.
The film premiered at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) in 2025, where it won the Audience Choice Award, before going on to a wider theatrical release. Its supporting cast includes Nollywood veterans Patience Ozokwor and Iretiola Doyle, reflecting the growing pattern of UK-based, Nigerian-heritage actors anchoring co-productions between British and Nigerian filmmaking talent.
With Son of the Soil, Adoti adds to a body of work that increasingly blends his British screen training with stories rooted in Nigerian identity, positioning him among a wave of diaspora actors bringing international production standards directly into Nollywood’s expanding co-production landscape.
