Early Life

Akinmayokun Awodumila, popularly known as May D, was born on December 28, 1984, in Lagos, Nigeria. He grew up in a family of seven and pursued mass communication at the University of Lagos. His passion for music began early, leading him to a successful career as a singer.

Career

May D rose to fame in 2011 after signing with the popular R&B duo P-Square’s label, Square Records. That same year, he released his debut single “Soundtrack,” which gained significant attention. The music video for “Soundtrack,” directed by Clarence Peters, attracted millions of views and helped establish May D as a rising star in the Nigerian music scene.
