Early Life
Chika Ike was born in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria. She showed an early interest in the arts, participating in church plays from the age of six. She began her modelling career at 16 after completing secondary school. By 17, Ike ventured into business, and by 2004, she earned a diploma in Human Kinetics and Health Education. She later obtained a degree in the same field from the University of Lagos. Her career took off in 2005 after starring in Bless The Child, a movie that marked the beginning of her rise in Nollywood.
In 2014, she graduated from the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, California, where she studied filmmaking. That same year, she founded her production company, Chika Ike Production.
Career
Ike’s acting career took off with Sweet Love in 2005, followed by her first major role in Bless the Child. She starred in over a hundred movies, including Paradise, Mirror of Beauty, Girls Got Reloaded, To Love a Stranger, and The Prince and the Princess. In 2007, Mirror of Beauty was showcased in Cineworld and Odeon cinemas across the U.K. and was selected for screening at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in 2008.
In 2014, Ike produced her first film Miss Teacher, under her production company, and also launched her reality TV show, African Diva Reality TV Show, which aired on DStv and AIT. She collaborated with Rok Studios to produce Happy Ending and Stuck on You in 2015.
Beyond acting and producing, Ike is a successful writer. Her debut book, Boss Up, received endorsement from Harvard Business School. She is also a philanthropist, founding the Help the Child Foundation, which supports underprivileged children. She has organized major charity events, providing food, school supplies, and scholarships to children in need.
In 2011, Ike launched her fashion line, Fancy Nancy, in Abuja, Nigeria. Ike has received numerous awards, including the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Upcoming Actress and Best Actress in a Supporting Role. She also opened up about overcoming domestic abuse from her past marriage, which she ended in 2013.
Chika Ike continues to be a role model, entrepreneur, and advocate for children’s welfare.
