Early Life
Norbert McDonald Akpojerharo Young was born on July 3, 1960 in Warri, Delta State. He grew up in Delta, attending primary and secondary schools in Sapele and Koko.
His parents worked in education and healthcare: his father was involved in agriculture and teaching, while his mother was a trained nurse. Despite his father wanting him to pursue engineering, Norbert felt a strong calling toward acting from a young age.
He studied Theatre Arts at the University of Ibadan and later at the University of Benin.
Career
Norbert Young began his career on the stage in the early 1980s, performing in plays and theatrical productions.After national service, he worked briefly as a copywriter but remained deeply rooted in theatre.
His transition to television came through early Nigerian TV dramas. He became best known for roles in series like Third Eye, Checkmate, Family Circle, and Tinsel.
Over the decades, Young has demonstrated versatility across mediums. On television, his performances in Third Eye, Tinsel, and Family Circle have been celebrated. In film, he has appeared in movies such as Gold Statue, King of Boys, Day of Destiny, Lugard, Living Funeral, and others.
He continues to act on stage, teaching and directing plays, and remains active in theatre festivals.
He is married to actress Gloria Young, and they are regarded as one of Nollywoodโs enduring couples. Their shared commitment to acting and the arts has been a strong part of his life.
