Early Life
Shawn Faqua was born on 6 June 1988 in Nigeria, with roots in Imo State. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Port Harcourt.
In 2012 he obtained a Certificate in Acting from a programme affiliated with the Center for Digital Imaging Arts (in collaboration with a Nollywood Upgrade Training).
Career
Shawn Faqua began his career as a model and presenter working on billboards, commercials, fashion shows and anchored shows before transitioning fully to acting in 2014.
He built up experience with early roles in films such as The Last Ritual, A Love Like Ours, and Four Crooks and a Rookie.
His breakthrough came when he played “Vincent” in Lagos Cougars a role that earned him multiple award nominations across Africa, including a nod for Best Young/Promising Actor at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
He has since delivered strong performances in films like Ojukokoro, Code of Silence, and many others. His method‑acting style including mastering accents, mannerisms, and deep character work earned him recognition as a versatile actor.
Beyond acting, he has also worked on stage plays, modeled for major organisations, and even lent his voice to a soundtrack (“I Wan Blow” in the short film “The Good Life”).
Shawn Faqua transformed from an engineering graduate to one of Nollywood’s most versatile actors through dedication, training, and bold career shifts. His powerful performances, commitment to authenticity, and willingness to embrace challenging roles both on screen and on stage have earned him respect and acclaim.
