Early Life
Tobi Makinde was born in Lagos State but hails from Ilesha in Osun State. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Akinjimi Olufisayo Makinde.
He spent much of his early childhood in Agemowo Town, Badagry, Lagos. Also, He completed his primary education at Odofa Children’s Home in Ogun State and his secondary education at Supreme Pillars College, Badagry. In 2012, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Lagos. He further earned a master’s degree in Theatre Arts from the same university in 2016.
Career
Tobi Makinde began his acting journey as a child, influenced heavily by his father. He appeared in his first movie, Silenced, at the age of seven. By thirteen, he landed a lead role in the TV series Kamson N Neighbors. He also later featured in popular shows such as Industreet and My Siblings and I. In 2015, Makinde took on the role of production manager at Scene One Productions.
His breakthrough came with the role of ‘Timini’ in Jenifa’s Diary, which brought him widespread recognition. In 2023, he co-directed Battle on Buka Street, which became a major commercial success in Nollywood.
In conclusion, he also earned praise for his role as ‘Shina Judah’ in A Tribe Called Judah, acting alongside renowned actors like Funke Akindele and Timini Egbuson.
