Nigerian TikTok streamer Hamzat Habeeb Adelaja, popularly known as Peller, is currently facing both legal and cultural challenges. The controversy involves a N395 million lawsuit and an incident at the Benin Palace.

The influencer spoke about the situation during a recent livestream. He suggested that the pressure is overwhelming.

“People want me to go broke.”

The lawsuit was filed by Lagos resident Osarobo Odigie. It followed a confrontation at a lounge in Lekki. Odigie claims that Peller recorded and shared a video without consent.

The legal demand includes several charges. These include N200 million for defamation, N100 million for emotional trauma, N75 million for cyberbullying, and N20 million for legal costs.

Peller responded by admitting he had apologized. However, he said the financial demand is unrealistic.

“I don’t have that kind of money. I have already apologized.”

At the same time, the Benin Traditional Council has accused him of breaching palace protocol. The incident happened during a visit to the Oba of Benin’s palace on March 6, 2026.

The council described the visit as unauthorized. It also labeled the act as a form of desecration. As a result, a palace chief has been suspended. In addition, a queen is facing disciplinary action.

Peller explained that he was unaware of the strict traditions. He said his visit was arranged by his manager.

“My manager asked me to go to the Oba of Benin’s palace. I didn’t know about any protocols. I greeted everyone respectfully. My hands are clean.”

He also denied any harmful intention.

“I didn’t do anything wrong intentionally. I was just there to show love and respect. Now everything is turning into a problem.”

The council has summoned him to appear before its chiefs. It also requested a written apology. Further legal action may follow if he fails to comply.
