Early Life
Born Steve Crown Uche Okolo on September 27, 1990, he hails from Benue State, Nigeria, but was raised in Abuja. Growing up in a devout Christian family, he discovered his passion for music at a young age. By age four, he began singing, and by eight, he had joined the choir at St. John’s Anglican Church.
His foundation in church music laid the groundwork for his future as a worship leader. He later studied Office Technology and Management at the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State.
Career
Steve Crown’s rise to fame began in 2015 with the release of his breakout single You Are Great. The song resonated with listeners worldwide, launching him into the spotlight as a powerful voice in gospel music. His music is known for its rich spiritual depth, emphasizing themes of worship, reverence, and faith.
He founded Lakelight Entertainment, a record label and media company focused on nurturing gospel music talent and promoting inspirational content. Through this platform, he continues to mentor emerging gospel artists.
Steve Crown’s songs have also earned him multiple nominations and recognition across the gospel music industry for their lyrical and spiritual depth.
On April 26, 2025, Steve Crown married his longtime fiancée, Ruth Thomas. Together, they continue to serve God through music and ministry.
