Comedian Efe Warriboy has strongly criticized Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State. The criticism came after news broke that the governor planned to host a welcome for President Tinubu, just days after over 200 people were killed in Benue.

In a video posted online, Efe expressed shock and disappointment. He said the decision to throw a welcome event while the state mourns is deeply insensitive. “These people are supposed to be mourning; you should not be telling them to come out to welcome the president,” he said.

Efe also slammed the idea of declaring a public holiday for the visit. He believes it is politically motivated. According to him, “What this governor is doing is trying to make sure that his 2027 ambition is not gone.”

He questioned the governor’s priorities and wondered why politics always seems to come before people. “Even Tinubu is supposed to sneak into the state, not even as a flamboyant visit. What is wrong with you people?” he asked.

Online, many Nigerians agreed. One user commented, “A public holiday for a welcome? We haven’t even buried our people.” Another wrote, “This is not leadership, it’s mockery.”

Efe also pointed out how power changes people. “Once you join a Nigerian political party, you’re a goner,” he said, suggesting that even respected figures lose their values in politics.

The attack happened on June 13, 2025. Armed men raided Yelewata and Daudu in Guma LGA, killing innocent residents and burning homes. The event shocked the nation and left entire communities in pain.

Now, voices like Efe’s are calling for empathy, not celebrations. Many Nigerians want action and respect—not parades—during a time of mourning.
