Blaqbonez began participating in underground rap battles in 2011. At 16, he won the prestigious Zombie Competition, beating over 3,000 rappers. He featured alongside top Nigerian artists early in his career and steadily built a loyal fan base. Known for his bold proclamation as the “Best Rapper in Africa” (BRIA), he stirred conversations and energized the Nigerian rap scene.
His eighth EP, Bad Boy Blaq (2018), part of the L.A.M.B project executive produced by M.I Abaga, revived Nigerian hip hop. The following year, he released Mr. Boombastic EP and a provocative single addressing Kanye West’s album release date.
